My love for fashion design grew out of necessity. Having grown up in a single parent household on the south side of Chicago, money for new clothing was always scarce. My appearance was always something I took pride in however, which led me to wear hand-me-downs from my mom, take old clothes from friends, and become very resourceful in how I dressed myself overall. My circumstances as a child, led me to form the belief that ones socio-economic status should not govern how they present themselves to the world. This belief, has formed the basis of my design ideology. I design to empower individuals to be the best version of themselves.
As a designer, I am inspired by making things that are visually striking, yet functional and pragmatic. I believe that clothing should be beautiful, but also convenient for the end-user. Glamour is not just about aesthetics, but about empowering movement and confidence through pieces that are beautiful as much as they are practical.
I received a Bachelor of Science in Finance degree from the University of Utah in 2020. I am currently enrolled in the Associates Degree in Fashion Design Program at Parsons School of Design, and also a Vendor Manager for Amazon Fashion Strategic Partnerships, overseeing product and program launches with marquee company partners such as: the NBA, NFL, Beyoncé, and Karl Lagerfeld Paris. In addition to this, I manage my brand 'Seicho', the outlet in which I showcase my designs and make them available to purchase for my clients and social media followers.
